We see dogs and cats of all ages and breeds. From puppies and kittens to the more geriatric crowd.
When deciding to adopt a furry friend it is important to know what you are getting into. When puppies and kittens are just a few weeks old they start what is called the vaccine series. All puppies and kittens will receive a series of vaccines every three weeks until they reach a certain age. Once the series is completed the vaccines only then need to be done yearly along with their physical exam.
Along with each vaccine visit as a puppy or kitten, a stool sample is collected to check for microscopic parasites that can live in the intestinal tract. During these checks if anything is seen the proper prevention can be given. You are allowed to bring in a stool sample (fresh for the day of the exam) instead of the technician having to obtain a sample upon visit. After the puppy and kitten series is complete, a yearly fecal check will be performed with the vaccines.
