Urgent Care FAQs
What’s the difference between an urgent care visit and an emergency?
Urgent care is for medical concerns that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening. An office hours emergency involves life-threatening conditions that require immediate medical care for survival.
Examples of life-threatening emergencies include:
- Being hit by a car
- Severe difficulty breathing
- Inability to urinate
- Excessive or uncontrolled bleeding
- Abdominal bloating
- Collapse or seizures
- Active Labor issues
If you believe your pet is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call our office immediately at (843) 620-9460.
Is Goose Creek Veterinary Clinic equipped to handle life-threatening emergencies during regular hours?
Yes. During our regular business hours, our medical team is equipped to provide emergency and lifesaving care. If your pet is experiencing a life-threatening medical concern, please call our clinic immediately at (843) 620-9460 so we can prepare for your arrival.

Can I drop my pet off for an urgent care visit?
What payment options do you accept?
We do not offer in-house payment plans. We accept major credit cards, checks, cash, CareCredit, and Scratchpay. We also accept most insurance plans and participate in Trupanion’s direct hospital pay option. This option allows clients to pay only their copay and coinsurance on the day of the visit, alleviating the need for reimbursement from Trupanion some days later. Our team will review all treatment estimates with you before proceeding.
How do I schedule an urgent care appointment?
Do you offer urgent care after business hours?
We do not offer urgent care services outside of our regular business hours. If your pet requires medical attention when we are closed, please contact a local urgent care or emergency facility, such as Charleston Veterinary Referral Center, 3484 Shelby Ray Ct, Charleston, SC 29414 or AcutePet Urgent Care, 143 Berkeley Cir, Unit 102, Summerville, SC 29483.
